You can get a complete range of biodegradable cups, plates and other products made of corn. They look the same as plastic cups and can hold hot and cold beverages well, but they are compostable and will degrade in 60 days time. Another material used is, bagasse. It is the residue left after crushing sugar cane. The fibers from this are used to make tableware products. Biodegradable cups and cutlery from this sugar cane product are also 100% compostable. They take four to five months to decompose in soil but in water, they decompose early. Both these products are a better alternative that Styrofoam and plastic which are not degradable. They are even better than paper as for paper, tree bark is required which is also not a very cheap option.
Bio plastic biodegradable bags are made from polymers and corn starch, which makes them environment friendly. They are strong and very durable. These biodegradable bags can be used as garbage disposal bags. They are fit for any kind of garbage; domestic, industrial or commercial. Unless they come in contact with earth elements, they are long lasting. They should never be used in lakes and other water bodies as they can start decomposing.
